Mexico Building Trip Rancho Hermosa Orphanage

Trip Overview: Rancho Hermosa Orphanage is 3 miles inland from the coastal town of Primo Tapia, Baja, about 30 minutes from the border. Nearby towns are Puerto Nuevo and La Mision. We will stay in comfortable dorms in Primo Tapia and drive to the orphanage to work. The orphanage is hoping to be approved to accept children in the next couple of months, but there are still projects they need help with. We will be working on a playground, soccer field, painting and miscellaneous other projects.

Departure: 6:30 a.m. Friday from Southlands Brea/ Return Sunday around 2:00 p.m. You may leave your car parked in the church parking lot over the weekend.

Transportation:  Please let us know if you can drive. We will try to limit the number of cars in our caravan. You will be reimbursed for Mexican insurance and gas.

Accommodations:  We will be staying in dorms near the church in town complete with beds, spotty WIFI, showers, and kitchen.  You will need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow.

Food:  All meals except Friday breakfast and one dinner are provided. Bring $10 cash for a taco dinner.

Cost: $95.00 per person. Please ask friends and family if they can contribute to building materials! Please make checks payable to One Generation Alliance for $95.00 per person + any additional funds going towards the purchase of building materials. Passport info: Those over 16 years old need a passport, under 16 need school ID and original birth certificate.

Packing List

PASSPORT, sunscreen, work clothes, Sleeping bag and pillow, Toiletries, Shower towel, Non-disposable water bottle and jugs for refills, Closed toed shoes, Modest clothing for orphanage visit, Hat or a visor, Money for dinner on Saturday night & possibly Sunday lunch
*optional money for orphanage gift shop for team going there (Mexican blankets, backpacks, purses, mugs, sweatshirts & t-shirts/ etc.)
Drivers
Must have full tank of gas and insurance. We will reimburse these costs. Have them go to Baja Bound Insurance https://www.bajabound.com/ to purchase (or any other Mexican insurance company). Have them refill the tank when back from Mexico on Sunday and save the receipt.
